This group is held at the LaPorte Library, and available to the ladies released from the Jail, as well as other female addicts serious about recovery.

Successful re-entry into society is a must for long term success. Taking responsibility is the first step. Sonshine has provided the MRT program for the female inmates in the LaPorte County Jail since Feb 2008.  MRT has helped over 200 female addicts learn to take responsibility for their behavior.  MRT is facilitated with a workbook for each participant, where changing behavior, beliefs, and habits related to substance abuse and being re-arrested, are the primary goals.  Higher Moral reasoning is achieved leading to better life choices.

MRT systematically focuses on seven basic treatment issues:

• confrontation of beliefs, attitudes and behaviors
• assessment of current relationships
• reinforcement of positive behavior and habits
• positive identity formation
• enhancement of self-concept
• decrease in hedonism and development of frustration tolerance
• development of higher stages of moral reasoning
